Reading and Writing Support
We deliver an evidence-based program to support your child’s particular needs. The elements of the language are taught systematically and introduced in a sequential order, with lots of review and reinforcement. The five pillars of learning to read are Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. We use the Orton-Gillingham multisensory based approach for structuring programs in Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Fluency to develop automaticity in decoding (reading phonetically) and competence in encoding (spelling). Vocabulary and Comprehension are taught through a variety of techniques, including Orton-Gillingham, by our expert teachers. Writing, sentence structure, grammar, and composition are all addressed in a highly individualized manner that responses to the needs of the individual student.

We can do this in a A) a single 3-hour test with a follow-up consultation, or B) over 7 tutoring sessions with an 8th session for consultation. Additionally, we offer the KTEA test to meet annual homeschool requirements for the state of North Carolina for students who are enrolled in tutoring at ARC.
ACT/SAT Support
We provide either comprehensive test support or focus on a single subject. The minimum is 8 sessions for a single subject, and 24 sessions for comprehensive test support. We can also offer small group SAT or ACT prep courses upon request.
Teaching / Coordinating middle and high school courses
We can teach a homeschool curriculum for most academic subjects. Additionally, we can act as the hub for your student’s homeschool program, supplying structure and transcripts at the conclusion of courses.
Executive Functioning / Homework Support
We can provide 1-on-1 support for students who need help getting organized, prioritizing work, and completing homework effectively and efficiently. If there is interest, we can also support this support for groups of up to 3.
Off-Campus Support
Depending on availability, all of these offerings are available at your location.
Attending Meetings and Writing Reports
We attend parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, staffing meetings, and various other school related meetings. We can also create a written document specific to your child and their tutoring. Reports require time to discuss with you the content, style, and with whom the report will be shared. Reports require a 2-week window, especially around report card time and the end of the year.
